As I wrote about last week, I decided to give half marathon training a whirl and dive into the Cleveland Half Marathon next month. If you’ve read my blog for a while, you know that I love the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon for a number of reasons! I’ve participated in it as both a spectator and a runner since about the time I first started running. I’ll never forget standing in the rain cheering on the runners in 2011 as they rounded the last corner before the finish. The excitement was palpable. The Lululemon cheering squad was on fire, and runner after runner came through looking exhausted and exhilarated. That’s when I first decided to take the next step and actually run the race itself!

2015-pre race with my BRF Alethea-check out her tiara! I ran the marathon this year and loved it!
2016 – me cheering Leighanna on around mile 24. I spectated this year and sustained a spectator injury of frostbitten fingers. Seriously.
2017. Post 1/2 marathon with Allison. We literally told jokes and laughed for 11 miles before she took off and ran a bunch of fast miles. I just told jokes to myself for the last 2.1 miles.

Monday: Power snatches (I PR’ed) and a really fun but challenging metcon that left me sore for several days-ascending by 4 reps DB snatches with asceding sit ups with each round broken up by 40 single unders.
Tuesday: DB bench press, DB rows and bike sprints which left me feeling weak and woozy. I actually stepped outside for a few minutes to collect myself after the bike!
Wednesday: The Epiq Chief:
Max Rounds in 3 Minutes of:
3 Power Cleans (73/135)
Rest 1 Min
Repeat for a total of 5 cycles
I actually PR’ed this by 2+rounds from when I last did it in January!
Saturday: The Rookie Rumble Crossfit Competition-I’ll share more about this later this week!
Sunday: 8 miles. This was acutally my one and only run of the week (how’s that half marathon training going, you may be asking!) BUT (and this is important!), it felt easy and effortless. I ran at a very slow pace and mostly just talked with friends which probably contributed to how great it felt. I got it done and with a pretty battered body from the previous days competition. This run kind of cemented that I can comfortably cover the distance next month at Cleveland. I needed this run.
